Holsworthy Pannier Market

Holsworthy Pannier Market has a charter dating back to the 12th century. It is described as a 'port' town - a Saxon term meaning a safe place to trade. The original Market and Fair Charter dates from 1155 to 1185. A second charter was granted by James I to Sir Nicholas Prideaux in 1614.
