Welcome to Holsworthy

Holsworthy is a historic market town with hundreds of years of history and is mentioned in the Domesday Book. It has a thriving outdoor Pannier Market on a Wednesday, along with one of the largest weekly Cattle Markets in the South West. Streets come alive as visitors enjoy mingling with local people and farmers and their families who come to town to buy and sell, meet friends and swap gossip, as they have done for generations.

Look out for the Antiques and Craft Fair and the WI Market, with its tables of delicious homemade produce and various events and coffee mornings. The bulk of the local shops in Holsworthy are owned and run by residents of the area. Mainly located in and around the Town Square, they offer a wide range of goods and cater for most needs. The town has a number of traditional pubs and inns, together with a good selection of restaurants and cafes, many featuring delicious local produce.

In and around Holsworthy there are many wonderful churches of all denominations, and a lovely museum with a unique collection of interesting artefacts, housed in part of a 17th century manor house. 'Ruby Country', a new initiative underway to provide walking, cycling and horse riding trails, will offer the more active visitors the opportunity to enjoy the charming countryside and its culture, heritage and local food and drink.
